How to get from Rijeka Airport to the centre

21 May 2026 · 6 min read

Here's the quirk: Rijeka Airport (RJK) isn't in Rijeka at all — it's on the island of Krk, near Omišalj, about 27 km from the city across the Krk bridge. Plan the transfer before you fly. Here are your 2026 options.

The airport shuttle runs only to the flight schedule — always check the airport's monthly timetable before relying on it.

Airport shuttle — best value to the city

The official airport shuttle bus runs in step with flights to Rijeka's main bus station (Jelačić Square area), costing about €15 one way and taking 30–40 minutes. It also stops in Omišalj and Kraljevica (around €8). Because it follows the flight schedule rather than a frequent timetable, check the current PDF on the airport's site so you're not caught out.

Taxi or rideshare

A taxi to central Rijeka runs roughly €40–60 — Croatian taxis go by meter, so traffic affects the fare. Uber and Bolt both operate here and are usually cheaper, around €39–50; Bolt tends to be the better value, Uber the more available. Door to door in about 25–35 minutes.

Private transfer — book ahead

For a fixed price and a driver waiting in arrivals, a pre-booked transfer is the least stressful option — especially if your flight lands when the shuttle isn't running.

Staying on Krk instead?

If you're heading to Krk Town, Baška or elsewhere on the island, remember you've already landed on Krk — a local Arriva bus or a short taxi is all you need, no bridge crossing required. Heading into the city? See our boutique & work-friendly stays in Rijeka, the coast's best-value base.
