How to get from Dubrovnik Airport to the old town

23 May 2026 · 6 min read

Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) is in Čilipi, about 22 km southeast of the old town. The drive is 25–40 minutes depending on traffic. Here are your options in 2026.

Prices and timetables shift seasonally — treat the figures as guidance and check before you travel.

Airport shuttle — best value

The Platanus shuttle bus runs in step with flights, leaving roughly 30 minutes after each arrival. It costs about €10 one way (around €14–15 for an open return) and stops first near the old town (Pile/Ploče gate area) and then at the main bus station in Gruž, by the ferry port. Buy at the Platanus desk in arrivals or online. Journey time is 30–40 minutes.

Public bus — cheapest

Dubrovnik's local Libertas lines (11, 27 and 38) also serve the airport and cost only a few euros (around €2.40). They're the budget choice but less direct and slower, with local stops along the way.

Taxi or rideshare — fastest

A taxi to the old town runs roughly €30–47 depending on drop-off and traffic; Uber and Bolt, when available, tend to be a bit cheaper at around €25–35. Door to door in about 25 minutes. Agree the fare or check the meter first.

Private transfer — book ahead

A pre-booked transfer (about €30–45) puts a driver in arrivals with your name on a card and a fixed price — worth it for late flights, heavy luggage or groups.

Which stop do you want?

Staying inside or near the walls? Get off at the Pile stop. Staying in Lapad or Gruž — the budget-friendly neighbourhoods — or catching a ferry? The Gruž bus-station stop is right by the port. See our Dubrovnik on a budget guide for where to base yourself, then browse boutique stays in Dubrovnik.
